The two sexes serve different purposes in cultivation. Plants raised from male and female cannabis seeds diverge at flowering, when females form resinous clusters valued for their cannabinoid content and males produce pollen sacs with very little resin. Growers aiming for seedless flower remove the males before those sacs open. Breeders, by contrast, keep selected males because half of every future generation’s inheritance comes from them.
